The Peter Saunders Trust is a charity established in 2005 by entrepreneur and business angel, Peter Saunders.
The Trust aims to promote excellence and favour projects that show endeavour, personal achievement and a spirit of enterprise.
The Trust in its first 10 years has made an impact in the beautiful but remote part of rural Wales between the Dyfi and the Mawddach rivers. In that time nearly £400,000 has been donated to a wide variety of local causes. Anything from £500 awards to help young persons embark on voluntary projects overseas, to a £30,000 award to help save the Magic Lantern Cinema in Tywyn and aid its transformation into a more broadly based arts centre.
The Trust has supported projects also that others might have found hard to support, perhaps because they broke new ground, involved risk or lacked popular appeal. The Trust has initiated projects when new thinking has been required or when it believed that an opportunity was being missed.
The Trust is taking a break now and not considering any new applications at this time. A review is being made of not only the impact of the work of the Trust to date, but also its strategy for the future and the impact the Trust might have in new areas.
