The Trust is based in Llanegryn, Meirionnydd and was established in 2005 by Peter Saunders, a local entrepreneur, philanthropist and business angel.
Peter spent much of his working life in nearby Tywyn where, over a 30 year period, he built an award winning group of companies. The group came to employ some 500 people and was recognised as the major employer and an important part of the rural economy.
When Peter sold the group, he founded The Peter Saunders Trust. He personally gifted a substantial sum of money to the Trust so that it could support worthwhile projects within Wales, with a special emphasis on the rural communities from which his former staff were drawn.
